Nigeria’s government has lifted a ban on flights to the oil producing nation by Air France, Lufthansa, KLM and Qatar Airways.
The West African country barred a number of global airlines when it resumed international flights on September 5 following a prolonged lockdown aimed at halting the spread of the novel coronavirus. At the time, the move was termed as “retaliation” for similar restrictions imposed by those airlines on Nigerian citizens.
Aviation minister Hadi Sirika said on a Twitter post on Tuesday, The government is also working to open three additional airports in the country to international flights “before the end of the year,”
Nigeria has so far recorded 65,305 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 1,163 deaths, though testing in the 200 million plus populous nation has been very limited.
